Create Beautiful Graphics with Canva [Round Up]
Have you heard of Canva yet? You probably have, but if you haven't, it's a really awesome website that can help you create professional graphics and documents for you business. You can use it to make PDFs for your opt-ins, add text to photographs, create a graphic to share a quote on Facebook, and a lot more. Bonus: there is also an app for iPhone!
Canva is a great tool for creating graphics for non-designers.
It's really a great resource for business owners. Let's face it, you don't need a designer to create every graphic or image for you. That would end up being quite expensive, plus there is a wait time. Sometimes you need something right now! There are going to be times when you need to make a few things yourself, and that's when I highly recommend Canva.
Of course, there are also some limitations and times when I wouldn't recommend using Canva, so let's go over some dos and don’ts. And at the end of this, I've gathered up some of my favorite tutorials and resources for Canva.
Use Canva to create beautiful images for your business.
1- Use Canva for your social media graphics!
Add text or your logo to an picture
Create a quote image or special deal
Update your Facebook cover photo
2- Use their premade layouts to save yourself time and headache. They are made by pros, use them to your advantage. Just don’t forget to customize them. Change the fonts, change the colors, change the images. Templates are just a good place to start.
3- Visit the Canva design school! They have wonderful lessons on design topics like using different fonts or colors. It's a really great resources for beginners.
4- If you are using it a lot, considering upgrading to the paid version, Canva for Work. There are some really features like the ability to add custom fonts or save your brand colors. This will save you a lot of time. I’m also a fan of the “magic resize” button.
Don't feel like you have to do everything yourself. There are plenty of times when you will want your designer to create something for you. If it’s a complicated layout, something your clients will pay for, maybe, a document with several pages; these are times to have your designer do the work for you to not only have save you time but also maintain some consistency that would be impossible in Canva.
Don't skimp on your logo. The harsh truth is that logos created in Canva are not the highest quality. If you tried to print a large banner with a logo you created in Canva, it will come out blurry. There is nothing worse than a bad quality logo.
Here’s why, Canva only creates images that are called raster images this means they are made of pixels. When you make them bigger they lose their crispness. Professional logos are made as vector images, meaning they are made from a mathematically equation. When you makes these bigger they keep their quality.
I also know that you will not regret working with an experienced designer who gets you. The investment for business is worth it. It’s better to start with a good quality foundation for your branding and logo. After you have those bricks laid, then creating professional graphics in Canva will be easy.
